Abstract

The 18th in 2019 means an earthquake for the national politics, not only because it opened the possibility for a constitutional change, an unthinkable context through the past governments, but also because of the political speeches related to an “overhaul” of the dictatorship's “achivements” in order to a vindication of the “patriotic act” of the bloodiest dictatorship in Latin America. In the current Chilean context, we must ask about the institutional changes in the civil-military dictatorship period, Are there values and ideas that persist in the current political discussion? And if there are, what is the mean of these ideas and the dictatorship's reference in the current Chilean political context?
