Abstract

Higher studies in the eighteenth century fell on canons and laws; its purpose: to consolidate the religious-political status of the period A. Higher studies The Universities of the Spanish Empire focused their studies on canons and laws, that is, on Canon Law and Roman Law or Civil Law, as It was also called at that time, those that were carried out in accordance with the texts authorized by the royal authority to teach these subjects. The content of these texts, according to historians, did not seek to train a certain type of professional or person, but rather aimed at maintaining the fidelity of the subjects to the Two Majesties that governed the life of the people: God and the King, the Church and the Monarchy.
