Chilean presidentialism: evolution of its powers and constitutional reform proposals

Abstract

A general view of Chilean Presidential structure and of its political system is the subject matter of this work. The Presidential exclusive initiative on certain legislative matters is explained. It also reviews the evolution of the power acquired vis a vis by the President, Congress, Judiciary and other Autonomous constitutional entities. Furthermore, several constitutional reforms for Chile are hereby proposed at a central, regional and local level.
